Rza Aliyev is the Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at the Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC), an international organization that brings together over 100 current and former heads of state and government to address global challenges through dialogue and policy innovation . In his role, Rza coordinates the COP29 International Advisory Committee, contributing to global climate negotiations and sustainability initiatives.
Rza's career encompasses leadership positions in finance, diplomacy, and sustainability. At bp plc in London, he served as a Commercial and Financial Advisor, overseeing asset and shareholder management for Lightsource bp in the Low Carbon Energy Finance sector. He also played a key role in bp's sustainability partnerships and policy development on Just Transition and climate change.
Earlier, Rza held positions as a private banker at Andbank and Credit Andorra SA, managing portfolios for high-net-worth individuals across various regions. He has also served as a Youth Delegate from Azerbaijan to the United Nations and as a Development Officer at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, where he established the country's first endowment fund.
Academically, Rza is a Schwarzman Scholar with a Master's in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, focusing on Economics and Business. He also holds a Master's in Diplomacy and International Affairs from the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and a Bachelor's in Public Administration from the Academy of Public Administration .
