Heeta Lakhani serves as the Executive Director of March For Science. She is a climate educator and youth advocate from Mumbai, India, dedicated to empowering young people and vulnerable communities to actively participate in climate policy and action. She is the Founder and Director of the ClimAct Initiative, an organization committed to nurturing change-makers who address the climate crisis through informed and knowledge-based initiatives .
Heeta's engagement with international climate negotiations began at COP21 in 2015. She served as the Global South Focal Point for YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC, during 2020–2021, where she played a pivotal role in amplifying youth voices within global climate discussions . In 2022, she co-founded the Youth Negotiators Academy, aiming to train and support young individuals to become effective negotiators in UN intergovernmental processes .
Academically, Heeta holds a Master's degree in Environmental Studies and Resource Management from TERI University in New Delhi . Her work emphasizes the importance of youth participation in both grassroots and international platforms, striving to bridge the knowledge gap and foster a generation equipped to tackle environmental challenges.
