Dr. Scott Parazynski is the director of space services at Proteus Ocean Group. A former NASA astronaut, spacewalker and resident of the International Space Station, he brings over 30 years of experience in aerospace, biotechnology, robotics, and medicine to the global smart ocean platform.
In addition to his enthusiasm for space, Scott has a deep-seated commitment to ocean exploration and conservation, contributing his expertise to Proteus Ocean Group’s mission to drive advancements in marine research. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Stanford University in 1983, continuing on to graduate with honors from Stanford Medical School in 1989. Scott has numerous publications in the field of space physiology and has particular proficiency in human adaptation to stressful environments. He has also invented a number of medical devices and other technologies for life in extreme environments. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including two NASA Distinguished Service awards, five NASA spaceflight medals, and he was inducted into the US Astronaut Hall of Fame in 2016.
