Meghna Tare is a visionary leader and changemaker in sustainability, environmental advocacy, and social impact. Currently, she serves as the Chief Sustainability and Economic Development Officer at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where she supports the operations and strategic planning for the university-wide sustainability practices programs and policies in collaboration with university operations units, academic and research units, student organizations, and external partners. She has expertise in UN Sustainable Development Goals, public policy, climate change, equitable food systems, transportation, and conservation.
Meghna is also supporting Dallas FIFA World Cup 2026 as Chief Sustainability Officer. She is addressing various environmental topics such as waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, transportation, air quality, and environmental awareness. Her focus is on minimizing the event's environmental footprint while empowering communities and leaving a legacy of positive change in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
She is the founder and director of the Regional Center of Expertise for Education in Sustainable Development (RCE North Texas), a program of the United Nations University. She was awarded the 2022 United Nations Association Global Leadership Award.
Meghna serves on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Roundtable on Science and Technology for Sustainability, and on the Board of Directors for ICLEI USA (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives).
She graduated with an MBA in Sustainable Management, MS in Environmental Science, and MS in Chemistry.
