Since taking office in 2011, Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins has become a voice for a stronger and more welcoming North Texas. In his first three years in office, he led the responses to public health emergencies like the West Nile Virus epidemic, Ebola crisis, and natural disaster recovery from deadly tornadoes and flooding.
As founding Chair of the Enroll North Texas Coalition, he has led efforts to increase health insurance enrollment for the last eight years to improve public health and reduce the burden on taxpayers who bear the cost for uncompensated care.
Beginning in early 2020, Judge Lewis Jenkins spent much of his time responding to the COVID-19 global pandemic. He was the first leader in Texas to put restrictions in place to mitigate the spread of the virus to keep as many of our residents as safe as possible. His leadership skills and collaboration lent itself to forming key relationships with physicians, business leaders, superintendents, and clergy were key early in the pandemic.
As the Chief Elected Official of Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, Judge Lewis Jenkins is committed to helping more residents get living wage jobs.
In this term, Judge Lewis Jenkins is committed to improving access to mental health treatment to adolescents and families by partnering with clinicians and schools to ensure much needed assessments are available.
