Dr. Taylor Shropshire is a Data Scientist and Oceanographer who is passionate about converting ocean research into industry solutions. Dr. Shropshire holds a PhD in Oceanography from Florida State University and currently serves as Head of Marine Resiliency at Fathom Science (fathomscience.com), a cutting-edge Blue Tech startup company spun out of North Carolina State University. In his current role, Dr. Shropshire leads development of software and data products for improving efficiency of marine sectors globally. As part of this effort, he oversees Fathom’s Data-For-Good portfolio, which focuses on deploying Fathom’s metocean forecasting technology for important conservation issues such as reducing vessel strikes on whales and tracking plastics in the ocean.
