Michele is the President of the GivePower Foundation, a US-based non-profit organization electrifying the world with clean energy to improve education, health and economic opportunities for those who need them most. Since 2013, GivePower has deployed projects in 28 different countries powering over 2400 schools, building over 200 larger microgrids and delivering access to clean water for over 1.2 million people daily with its sixteen Solar Water Farms. The organization has improved the lives of over 2.2 million people to date and has been honored for its innovative, solar-powered solutions in Fast Company’s World Changing Awards (2022), the Energy Globe Award for Kenya (2022) and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award (2020).
Previous to joining GivePower in 2019, Michele held C-level positions in 7 privately held companies, senior leadership roles in 2 publicly traded companies and served on 3 boards. Specifically, she worked as the SVP of Partner Development for SolarCity prior to Tesla’s $2.6B acquisition of the company in 2016. Her ownership of long-term business relationships with partners like The Home Depot, DirectTV, and Best Buy along with the creation of a robust customer referral program assisted SolarCity in growing their residential solar market share from 26% to 34% during her 3 years there. Michele was also responsible for recruiting and training the company’s 5500 sales professionals and managed a team of 1400 directly.
Before joining SolarCity, Michele served as the Chief Marketing Officer and EVP of Operations for Paramount Equity. During her 8 years there, she and the team formed 4 companies; Paramount Equity Mortgage dba GoodLeap (now the largest financier of residential solar in the US), Paramount Insurance Services (acquired for $20m), Paramount Solar (acquired by SolarCity for $120m), and Value360.
Prior to working with Paramount Equity, Michele spent 13 years in broadcasting as a Station and General Sales Manager for CBS Radio. She also owned a 5-store retail chain and created a magazine publishing company.
Michele’s passions include philanthropy, supporting women in achieving their full potential, and enjoying time with her family. She chaired SolarCity’s Women in Power organization, was a founding member of Sacramento’s American Women in Broadcasting chapter and has been a long-time member of American Women Executives. She’s chaired various events and campaigns for Make-a-Wish, Volunteers of America, Cure Breast Cancer Inc, Habitat for Humanity, and buildOn. She’s the very proud mother of two grown children and adores her two grandsons. She and her husband reside in San Luis Obispo, CA, and Phoenix, AZ.
