Paul is the Project Manager for the Exploring Ocean Iron Solutions (ExOIS) program, which is hosted at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), USA. ExOIS is a not-for-profit consortium of experts that strives to transparently and ethically advance research and our understanding on the potential of ocean iron fertilization (OIF) as a method of marine CDR. Paul has a background in marine biogeochemistry with an emphasis on using natural radionuclides to study ocean processes. He received his Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Southampton, UK while based at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), with a thesis focused on carbon export from a naturally iron fertilized bloom in the Southern Ocean. Paul has held project management and coordination positions with the international civil service at the IAEA and IOC-UNESCO, and academic positions at the University of Bristol, WHOI, and NOC.
