Nicole Alderete Ferrini is a dynamic and visionary leader. With over 20 years of experience in project management, sustainability, and community development, Nicole has consistently championed equity and inclusion through strategic initiatives that empower diverse communities.
Nicole holds dual degrees in Interior Design and Architecture from Texas Tech University. She began her career by founding Uncommon LLC in 2007, a consultancy focused on advocating for a better built environment with a focus on underrepresented and vulnerable populations. Her innovative approach led to her historic appointment as the world’s first Latina Chief Resilience Officer, where she developed El Paso’s celebrated Resilience Strategy, integrating social, environmental, and economic resilience into municipal planning.
As the former Director of Community and Human Development for the City of El Paso, Nicole managed over $77 million in aid during the COVID-19 crisis, prioritizing support for the city’s most vulnerable residents. Her leadership in the Vulnerable Population Support Task Force showcases her ability to drive impactful change with grassroots solutions to urban challenges.
Nicole's strategic vision is further informed by her role as the city’s Climate and Sustainability Officer, where she spearheaded climate initiatives after El Paso voters approved a $5.2 million bond for renewable energy improvements.
