Arun Agarwal is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and patent holder, whose work spans industries. Raised in Jaipur, India, Agarwal earned his Bachelor of Science from Maharajas College and completed his MBA at the Institute of Management Technology in Ghaziabad, Uttar Predesh. He later immigrated to the United States with his now-wife, Anu, after being accepted at Southern New Hampshire University to pursue a master’s degree in computer information.
In 2002, the couple moved to Dallas, where Agarwal landed a computer analyst job. In 2008, he began his career with Alok Industries Ltd., a Mumbai-based textile manufacturing company. He served as CEO of the company’s US marketing subsidiary, Alok International, until 2014 when the two legally separated. The Dallas operation was rebranded as Nextt, a leading textile company where he continues to serve as CEO. When prices of cotton began to skyrocket around 2011, Agarwal worked with Alok Industries to develop a distinctive new product called Alpha Cotton. The process combines polyester yarns with cotton, creating a high-thread-count fabric that is 30-40% cheaper than pure cotton, and was awarded a US patent in 2015. Arun has bolstered success with Nextt by amassing a real estate empire, and by becoming one of Texas’ leading advocates for Indians and Indian business.
Beyond textiles, he is deeply involved in public service. In 2016, Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Agarwal to the state’s Product Development & Small Business Incubator Board. He also serves as:
-       President of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board,
-       Chair of the Texas Economic Development Board of Directors,
-       An Executive Board Member at UTD, and
-       Board Member at Texas Tech.
