Gurmeet Likhari is a visionary Entrepreneur, Technocrat, Angel Investor, and Mentor with over 35 years of Leadership experience spanning telecom, IT, lifestyle, hospitality, and real estate. Brahma Tank, inspired by the Hindu creator deity Brahma and the popular American TV show "Shark Tank," aims to support startups with funding and strategic mentorship. This initiative brings together seasoned professionals from diverse industries to guide young entrepreneurs and foster innovation. His vision is to create an ecosystem where innovative ideas can flourish, particularly those spearheaded by women entrepreneurs. Also, his focus is not limited to high-tech innovations, he is equally passionate about supporting projects with a social impact, one such project is an eco-friendly pottery making by traditional ‘Kumhar’ women, whereas, The Likhari Foundation focuses on empowering underprivileged girls through education and skill development.
He started his career with Punjab Communications back in 1991, where he swiftly scaled up to R&D group involved in the design and development of high-bandwidth two-way radios. Later in 1994, he joined Essar Cellphone, where his core responsibility was to deploy a transport network for India’s first cellular network. His pivotal role in the nascent cellular industry in India sealed his image as one of the pioneers at Essar Cellphone, a major player alongside Airtel in the early days of cellular networks in India. In the early stages of his career, the serial entrepreneur took bold steps that boosted his professional odyssey.
Gurmeet successfully founded more than 11 companies, which has flourished immensely under his leadership. To name one, he co-founded the MobileComm Group of Companies in 2002. Under his leadership, MobileComm achieved global recognition, employing more than 1400 professionals worldwide. He played a critical role in overseeing profit and loss, as well as driving the company's growth across the USA, Canada, and India. The organization was later acquired by UST Global.
An alumnus of Nagpur University with a bachelor's degree in electronics, Gurmeet also holds advanced certifications in telecom. He has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to the industry and has led several steering committees providing management oversight.
