Robin Currey is a sustainable food systems scientist with a Ph.D. from Florida International University (Biological Sciences) and undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan (B.S./M.S. Natural Resource Ecology and Management). She is the Associate Provost and Dean for Academic Affairs at Luther College after having designed and directed the Sustainable Food Systems programs (M.S./B.S./B.A. in Sustainable Food Systems). Dr. Currey is the former Director of Mercy Corps in Kyrgyzstan, an international humanitarian organization, and non-executive Director for a Community Development Financial Institution in Kyrgyzstan where she mentored environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact. Currey’s research seeks to understand and influence agrobiodiversity conservation for sustainable diets and climate resiliency among smallholder farmers. Her expertise includes ethnoecology, biodiversity for food and nutrition, sustainable diets, micro-entrepreneurship, community-development finance, food justice and capacity building/education concerning all of these areas of expertise.
