Cullen Geiselman Muse PhD is a conservationist, philanthropist, investor, and bat researcher.  She lives and works in Houston where she chairs the boards of the Cullen Trust for Health Care, a supporting organization funding healthcare initiatives in the greater Houston area, and the Houston Parks Board, a not-for-profit dedicated to improving and expanding Houston’s greenspaces. She also currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Greater Houston Community Foundation, Houston Advanced Research Center, Rainforest Trust, Turtle Conservancy, and Bats without Borders. Cullen earned a doctorate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Columbia University where she studied bat-plant interactions in French Guiana during which time she coauthored the book “Seed Dispersal by Bats in the Neotropics” with botanists from the New York Botanical Garden. She is a former staff member and the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors of Bat Conservation International. Cullen continues her work with bats by collaborating with colleagues and students in Africa, curating the online Bat Eco-Interactions database (www.batbase.org), presenting lectures about bats to technical audiences and the general public, and serving on the steering committee of the Global Union of Bat Diversity Networks, a National Science Foundation funded initiative. She is dedicated to conserving species and the habitats they need to thrive and to preserving and expanding green space for the benefit of people and nature. Her recent book “One Health Meets the Exposome: Human, Wildlife, and Ecosystem Health” combines her passions for safeguarding the environment and promoting human health and was published by Elsevier in April 2023.
