Director of Business Development

Native American Seed
Speaker Bio
Weston grew up on the Native American Seed Farm in Junction, Texas—where he spent most of his youth trying to avoid hauling irrigation pipes and harvesting native seed in the 100 degree summer heat. He soon learned that if he excelled at sports, he had a valid excuse to skip work. Being rather persistent, he played the “sports to avoid work loophole” all the way through a college football career until a back surgery eventually sidelined this strategy.
After graduating from Texas Tech with an MBA in 2010, Weston took an internship with Ogallala Commons, diving into sustainable rainwater, solar, and wind harvesting methods. Upon completion, he returned to the family farm... and was back to moving irrigation pipes in the 110 degree heat.
The new strategy was to start a rainwater harvesting installation operation inside the family seed business. After the first year, Weston was awarded the TWDB RainCatcher of the year for both residential and commercial category. As the business grew, so did the size of the tanks which basically became like standing inside of an irrigation pipe in the 120 degree Texas sumer heat.
So, in 2017 Weston went back to the "sports to avoid work" loophole and opened a CrossFit gym in San Marcos, TX. After a few years of competitions, and a second back surgery, he took on the relocation of the Native American Seed warehouse in 2020. He now fights software and sits in air conditioning all day long... dreaming of the days he can get back to the farm and move irrigation pipe in the triple degree weather.
