His Excellency Odo Tevi is the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations, a position he has held since 2014. In this role, he has been a leading advocate for climate justice, sustainable development, and the rights of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on the global stage.
As Vanuatu’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Tevi has chaired several key bodies, including the Special Committee on the UN Charter and the UN Asia-Pacific Group. He has also served as Vice-President of the UN Pledging Conference for Development Activities and participated in negotiations for the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda. ​
Ambassador Tevi has been instrumental in advancing climate justice initiatives. Notably, he led Vanuatu’s campaign to seek an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the obligations of states under international law to protect the rights of current and future generations from the adverse effects of climate change. This initiative garnered support from over 130 UN member states and culminated in a resolution adopted by consensus in March 2023. 
Ambassador Tevi continues to be a prominent voice for Vanuatu and other small island nations, advocating for environmental sustainability and equitable international policies.
