Dr. Greg Stunz serves as the Senior Executive Director of the Harte Research Institute (HRI) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He joined HRI in 2007 as the inaugural Endowed Chair for Fisheries and Ocean Health. In 2013, he established the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation.
With his experience as a Professor of Marine Biology, he understands the importance of integrating real-world data with academic knowledge. He focuses on the distribution of fish, their interactions with their habitats, and the critical role of estuaries and near-shore waters. He is aware of the consequences that both natural and human activities have on these vital resources.
Greg has served on important boards, such as the Gulf Fishery Management Council and the Coastal Resources Advisory Committee for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Dr. Stunz has published numerous scientific articles, and both his research and the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation are often highlighted in the media.
As the Senior Executive Director, Greg plays a crucial role as an ambassador for HRI's mission to develop science-driven solutions that will have a lasting impact on the Gulf region. Leading a team of experts from three countries and diverse disciplines, HRI focuses on creating science-based solutions that positively influence the Gulf's ecosystems, economies, and communities.
