Catriona Glazebrook is an accomplished conservation leader with over two decades of experience in directing large-scale environmental organizations, advancing habitat protection, species recovery, and international and community-based conservation initiatives. As the Executive Director of the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center, Catriona oversees the Center’s conservation and educational programs, building on her extensive expertise in resource management and conservation science. The Wetland Center has one of the largest manmade wetlands in the US, which supplies up to 90 million gallons of water a day to over 2.2 million Dallas residents. Wetland plants clean and purify the water for human use. The center serves as a major stopover for thousands of migrating birds, and provides bio-diverse habitat for many species. In addition, the John Bunker Sands provides an innovative science and ecology education program for up to 5000 4th graders to high school students.Catriona previously led one of the largest conservation organizations in Texas. She managed the largest coastal sanctuary in the United States, and Catriona's strategic leadership in habitat protection contributed to the recovery of endangered species and the restoration of vital wetland ecosystems contributing to broader regional biodiversity conservation goals. Catriona has significant leadership experience in global conservation efforts, successfully leading international programs aimed at forest and marine protection and cross-border collaboration. For example, she founded and led an international coalition to address the environmental degradation of the Bering Sea, one of the most productive fisheries in the world. The coalition’s work involved policy leaders, scientists, and indigenous communities from five countries, achieving significant progress toward sustainable management of marine resources.Catriona was instrumental in launching the first marine conservation network in China, uniting over 30 NGOs and local scientists. This initiative helped protect critical marine habitats and led to the establishment of China’s first NGO-led marine conservation programs, marking a significant step forward for environmental protection in the region. She also managed a large-scale international grants program for over 200 NGOs focused on species protection, habitat preservation, and sustainable fisheries.
